Caribbean-Mexico Hotel Construction Pipeline Surging

The Caribbean-Mexico hotel construction pipeline is booming.
There were 107 hotel properties comprising 22,325 rooms in construction last month in the wider Caribbean-Mexico region, a 41.5 percent jump compared to the same period last year.
That’s according to the latest data report from hotel analytics firm STR.
The Caribbean component included a total of 3,715 rooms in construction in the Dominican Republic, along with 549 rooms in construction in Puerto Rico.
Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula, home to tourism hubs like Cancun, reported 4,668 rooms in construction in the period.
