A Very Cool New Beach Resort in Bonaire

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - April 9, 2018

While Bonaire has long been one of the Caribbean’s most lovable destinations, its hotel product has always erred on the side of, well, the traditional.

But that just changed.

Enter the new Delfins Beach Resort Bonaire, a sleek, modern addition to the island that is instantly the coolest place to stay on the island.

Delfins is set on a 200-meter stretch of coastline at Punt Vierkant on Bonaire’s southwestern coast, home to a total of 84 luxury units, all with spectacular views, full kitchens and bathrooms.

Delfins Beach Resort also boasts a beach restaurant, Brass Boer, led by Dutch chefs Jonnie Boer Therese Boer, along with a five-star PADI diving school and an on-site diving pier.

The restuarant is particularly compelling, the brianchild of the Boers, who run the three-Michelin-star De Librije in Eht Netherlands.

The design is a new look for Bonaire, with a mix of Caribbean elements that marry with creative, sometimes quirky notes — with the result a totally new kind of resort for this Dutch Caribbean island.

Also unique for Bonaire, the resort has its own sandy beach, along with the largest swimming pool on the island, joined by a pool bar.

It all adds up to a significant new addition to Bonaire, an island that will be getting a big boost of its own in June when American Airlines launches nonstop flights to the island from Miami.
