Chairman and Founder of Grupo Puntacana Frank Rainieri will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Caribbean Hotel & Resort Investment Summit, which takes place May 16-18 in Miami.

The award is presented to an individual who has made significant contributions to the hospitality industry over his or her lifetime through their actions, deeds and accomplishments, organizers said.

A renowned leader in the tourism industry of the Dominican Republic, Rainieri is considered a “pioneer” of the Punta Cana tourist destination.

He began his career in 1970 with the inauguration of the Punta Cana Club, which he established with American entrepreneur, Theodore Keel.

Years later, the project–originally consisting of ten small bungalows–has served as groundwork for the development of one of the exclusive tourist complex, Puntacana Resort & Club.

It has now become one of the major resort destinations in the Caribbean, centered around the company’s innovative Punta Cana International Airport.
