How Kenny Chesney Is Helping Jost Van Dyke

Country music superstar and longtime friend of the Virgin Islands Kenny Chesney is providing a big boost for one of his favorite islands in the wake of Hurricane Irma.

Chesney’s Love City Foundation is helping to spearhead the renovation of Jost Van Dyke’s community health clinic, which sustained severe damage during Irma.

The storm left the clinic without a roof, windows, doors, living quarters for clinical staff and sufficient space to serve residents and visitors.

The foundation has pledged equipment, materials and labor toward repairs and refurbishment.

“We know what it is like, you are not alone….It is an opportunity to do great things. It is not anything to be sad about,” said John McInnis, director of the Love for Love City Foundation. “We will move forward to make things better.”

Chesney launched the foundation to support Hurricane Irma disaster relief for both the United States and British Virgin Islands.

The organization has delivered medical supplies, water, food, building materials, and generators to the people of Jost Van Dyke as part of relief efforts.

The main refrain of popular Chesney song, It’s That Time of Day, is Adios to Jost, addressing the feeling of leaving after a day spent on the island.
