One of the world’s greatest hotel brands is expanding to the Americas.

Mexico-based Grupo GDI has signed an agreement with India’s Oberoi Group to develop Oberoi hotels and resorts in the US, Canada, Mexico, Latin America and the Caribbean.

“We are delighted to partner with Grupo GDI to bring the Oberoi brand to the Americas,” said Mr. PRS Oberoi, Executive Chairman of The Oberoi Group. “We look forward to bringing Oberoi’s distinct culture of personalized service and commitment to excellence to the region, expanding its global footprint in select destinations.”

Grupo GDI said it had already secured sites for the first two Oberoi properties, with a formal announcement with more deals scheduled for early 2018.

GDI said it would be investing around $100 million in each of the two properties.

“For us, it is an honor to begin this journey with the Oberoi Group to bring its one of a kind hospitality to the Americas,” said Simon Galante, CEO of Grupo GDI. “The combination of Oberoi Group’s legendary service with unique locations in the Americas will, without a doubt, result in long-awaited and unparalleled experiences in the region.”

Oberoi, founded in 1934, operates more than 33 luxury hotels around the world, with the vast majority in India along with locations in Indonesia, Mauritius, Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
