Miami Heat Hold Training Camp at Atlantis in the Bahamas

The Miami Heat have kicked off their training camp in the Bahamas.

Paradise Island’s Atlantis resort is hosting the team ,using the arena it typically uses for college basketball events.

The Bahamas has, in recent years, become the Caribbean’s leading sports tourism destination, hosting everything from LPGA events to college football to the high-profile Battle for Atlantis NCAA basketball tournament.

This marks a return to the Bahamas for the Heat, having previously held training camp at Atlantis before the 2013-2014 season.

The team is conducting two-a-day practice sessions all week, concluding on Saturday.

“The Miami HEAT’s decision to hold its fall training camp in The Bahamas for a second year is indicative of something very special going on in our destination,” said Bahamas Minister of Tourism Obie Wilchcombe. “The Bahamas has established itself as a world class sports tourism destination and we look forward to welcoming the Miami HEAT’s players, coaches and executives.”
