PAWA Dominicana Launching Miami-Santo Domingo Flights

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - September 18, 2016

Fast-growing Caribbean airline PAWA Dominicana is expanding with its first international flights from the United States.

The Dominican-based carrier will begin operating two daily nonstop flights from Miami International Airport to Santo Domingo on Nov. 16.

The carrier will use MD-83 aircraft seating 160 passengers for the route.

“Congratulations to PAWA Dominicana, who will join what is already a bountiful crop of new airlines starting service at MIA this fall,” said Miami-Dade Aviation Director Emilio T. González. “The new service will provide a boost to one our top international markets, and continue our push towards a strong finish in 2016.”

Pawa already operates flights from Santo Domingo to Aruba, Antigua, Havana, St. Maarten, Curacao, Port-au-Prince and, most recently, San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The new route offers an alternative to existing American Airlines service to Santo Domingo, which is one of the Dominican Republic’s burgeoning tourism hubs.
