Atlantis, Paradise Island has announced the 2017 launch of The Corals, a $20 million revamp of what is currently the Coral Towers, which first debuted in 1994.

Scheduled for completion next spring, the transformation will include the addition of an adults-only pool, a new lobby, restaurant and renovated rooms to the most centrally located of the resort’s five hotels.

According to the company, The Corals will serve as a “sleek, modern social hub,” with the Blu Pool redesigned by interior architect Jeffrey Beers, who also conceived The Cove’s adult-only poolscape, Cain at The Cove. Exclusive to guests of The Corals, the new pool will be open day and night, and feature cabanas, floating daybeds, outdoor dining, and a live DJ. Renovated rooms will receive new flooring, furniture, lighting and soft furnishings to reflect a contemporary and serene beach theme.

“This renovation marks a significant step in our long term vision for Atlantis,” said Paul Burke, President and Managing Director of Atlantis, Paradise Island. “Atlantis consists of five unique hotels, from the ultra-luxury of The Cove Atlantis to the casual relaxed atmosphere of the Beach Tower. With The Corals, we will create an expressive and social enclave that goes beyond a rejuvenated room product by introducing a new adults-only pool concept and a modernized lobby experience.  These new elements and offerings will appeal to our group customers as well as to couples and young adults looking for a getaway to one of the most beautiful resorts in the world.”

Close to Atlantis’ marina, shopping, casino and conference center, The Corals has traditionally been particularly popular with groups. “The Corals will reintroduce Atlantis to our group market segment because we will now have a hotel that fits the needs of our groups just 100 feet away from our conference facilities,” said Marcy Miles, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

During the initial phases of the renovation Coral Tower’s lobby and some guest rooms will remain open, the company said. The second phase of renovations (to include the lobby and new dining concept) is expected to begin in early 2017.

The Corals renovation project follows recent upgrades to the 3,400-room resort complex, including those at Poseidon’s Table buffet-style restaurant, Plato’s, Atlantis Casino’s Salon Privé, and suites at The Cove.
