Norwegian Cruise Line’s newly renovated Norwegian Dawn sailed this week into its homeport of Boston, from where it will sail on a new Bermuda Cruise each week through October.

The ship’s renovation is a part of the Norwegian Edge program, a $400 million initiative by the cruise line.

“As with each of the ship refurbishments in the Norwegian Edge program, this was not your average dry dock,” said Andy Stuart, Norwegian Cruise Line president and chief operating officer. “Norwegian Dawn was brought down to the steel in many spaces and rebuilt to evoke the look and feel of the newest Norwegian ships, allowing guests sailing on her to enjoy all of the freedom and flexibility that only Norwegian offers, along with a more premium experience from bow to stern.”

Norwegian Dawn’s guests will have several new restaurants, bars and lounges to enjoy after the ship’s refurbishment, including Los Lobos Cantina, an upscale Mexican restaurant; O’Sheehan’s Bar & Grill, offering pub fare and beers on tap; The Cellars, a Michael Mondavi Family Wine Bar; Sugarcane Mojito Bar; and Bliss Lounge, a space for guests to relax and enjoy a cocktail.

The ship’s existing dining options, such as The Venetian and Aqua, have also undergone extensive renovations, and now feature new wall coverings, carpet and hardwood flooring, entry signage, artwork, ceiling finishes, reupholstered furniture, lighting, and window treatments.

Bamboo Asian Restaurant, the Garden Café, Teppanyaki restaurant, the Cigar Bar, Gatsby’s Champagne Bar and Cagney’s Steakhouse have also undergone significant refurbishments, while Le Bistro, La Cucina, and Moderno Churrasca have changed locations throughout the ship.

Every stateroom on the ship has received new carpets, bedding, drapery, artwork, flat screen TVs and furniture, and the ship’s public spaces, elevators and restrooms were also refreshed with upgraded contemporary designs and amenities.

The Atrium features a new modern aesthetic, along with Tides, an entirely new shopping venue with a wide selection of jewelry, and a holistic update to Tradewinds, the existing shopping venue.

Norwegian Dawn now offers guests easier ways to view and purchase mementos of their vacation with an upgraded Photo Gallery.

The ship’s pool deck was completely refurbished with the addition of new decking and new white awnings, as well as new exterior showers and upgraded pool loungers.

Venues such as the Dawn Casino, Stardust Theater, Entourage teen space and video arcade, and Mandara Spa and Pulse Fitness Center also received updates during the renovation.
