For the second time, a major Caribbean opera festival is taking place in Trinidad and Tobago.

The Classical Music Development Foundation of Trinidad and Tobago is hosting the second annual “T&T Opera Festival,” which will take place July 1-10.

The festival will comprise a host of classical music events from opera to master classes and the launch of a new cycle of songs from local composer Dominique LeGendre.

The highlight will be a production of Jacques Offenbach’s The Tales of Hoffman, along with the launch of 12 so-called “Songs of the Islands,” a song collection by the aforementioned LeGendre.

The festival is pushing a hashtag #OperaLime, a mix of classical and Caribbean themes.

This year, the festival is looking to expand its audience by offering several free admission events to expose the uninitiated to opera music.

Queens Hall Trinidad is the host venue for the festival.
