Slapping on sunscreen and wearing a wide-brimmed hat are two time-tested strategies for protecting yourself from the sun. But now one Puerto Rico resort is partnering with a tech company to offer guests a more stylish, 21st-century way to shield themselves from overexposure to UV rays.

W Retreat & Spa, Vieques Island is now lending Netatmo June bracelets to clients at its AWAY spa.

The chic “tech-cessory” acts as a personal sun coach, monitoring sun exposure in real time and sending alerts such as how much sunscreen to put on and when it’s time to reapply directly to your iPhone.

Among the first “wearables” targeted at women, the jeweled wristlet was designed by Louis Vuitton and Harry Winston collaborator Camille Toupet.

The resort currently has 10 bracelets in rotation, and plans to launch a new sun repair spa treatment to complement the Netamo June launch.
