How to Stay on the Beach on Harbour Island

A great beachfront option right on the pink sand

In the Out Islands of the Bahamas, Harbour Island’s claim to fame is the three-mile swath of pink sand that fringes its Atlantic coast.

So when you visit, choosing a hotel that’s right on that rosy crushed-coral strip is a no-brainer.

Our suggestion: try a stay Coral Sands, a charming boutique hotel where several of its 38 rooms offer front-row vantage points. Check in to Sandpiper or Sunrise cottage, for example, and all that will stand between you and that celebrated strip is this private stairway.

Wake up, bounce barefoot down the steps, and launch yourself straight into the turquoise waves. Or grab your morning coffee and sip it as you laze on a chaise shaded by a thatch-roofed palapa.

Whatever you do, allow yourself plenty of time to smell the salty tang in the air; to feel the soft breeze on your shoulders; and to enjoy the warmth of the morning sun.

We guarantee that by lunchtime you’ll appreciate exactly why “Briland’s” Pink Sand beach is considered one of the best in the world.

And wonder what on earth took you so long to get here.
