Training for fall races is currently in full swing for runners around the world. But after you’ve crushed New York and Chicago, here’s a Caribbean event to consider that combines running with reggae, rum, and no small amount of revelry.

March 11-13, 2016, Jamaica’s Kingston City Run offers athletes a chance to test their mettle on 5k, 10k, and half-marathon routes that start at Emancipation Park in the New Kingston district, and run through the city’s heritage sites including the Bob Marley Museum, King’s House and Devon House.

Timed to coincide with Jamaica’s carnival celebrations, the event comprises a entire weekend of festivities, with a Friday-night bacchanal, a pre-race party on Saturday evening, and post-race celebrations on Sunday.

Proceeds will benefit local charities including Food For The Poor, and online registration is open now at kingstoncityrun.com.
