The Turks and Caicos Islands Government has officially launched operations of its London Office.

The new branch is an extension of the territory’s Office of the Premier, and will henceforth be the primary liaison between the Turks and Caicos Islands Government and European bodies such as the United Kingdom Overseas Territories Association (UKOTA) and Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTA).

Last December, Turks and Caicos Premier Dr Rufus Ewing announced plans for the London Office with the goal of offering services beyond traditional tourism and marketing initiatives, including the promotion of foreign direct investment and consular support services.

The Office will work to identify and access investment and funding opportunities from the UK and European Donor Agencies, as well as to act as a source of information for the diaspora residing in the UK and Europe, according to a government statement.

Through the Consular Services feature, the Office will offer assistance to visiting government officials and persons traveling to the country from Europe with the VISA and immigration processes.

The Consular Office also plans to organize an official Turks and Caicos Islands Association, which will act as a base for support and information in order to foster unity among students and residents living abroad.
