Trinidad and Tobago has another new top tourism official.

The country’s new government has appointed Shamfa Cudjoe as its new Minister of Tourism.

Cudjoe was most recently assistant director of the “Youth Energized for Success Programme,” an initiative of the Tobago House of Assembly’s Division of Finance and Enterprise Development.

The government called her “one of Tobago’s leading professionals in the field of international affairs and foreign trade policy.”

Speaking with the media, Cudjoe said her first actions would be to “examine the industry and consult with stakeholders before implementing policy decisions.”

She also said a priority would be “improving transportation links between Trinidad and Tobago and initiatives to improve the local tourism product.”

Trinidad and Tobago’s new Cabinet will have its first meeting on Monday.
