Carlson Rezidor is expanding in the Caribbean.

The company announced this week that it would be opening two new Radisson Blu hotels in the region.

The Radisson Blue San Andres Resort and Spa (rendering above) will be a new-build beachfront hotel on the Caribbean island of San Andres, slated to open in the first quarter of 2016 with 77 suites.

The Radisson Blu ar Santa Marta Resort and Spa will be located in Santa Marta on the Caribbean coast of Colombia.

That property, slated to open in 2017, will open with 190 rooms, according to the company.

“Radisson Blu has a global presence with over 280 hotels in operation throughout the world and we see great potential for the brand in Latin America,” said Javier Rosenberg, chief operating officer, Americas, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group. “Carlson Rezidor already has a strong footprint with over 50 hotels in operation and under development in Latin America and a leading position in Brazil and Chile and now in Colombia with the addition of these hotels.”

The Caribbean coast of Colombia has seen a wave of new hotel developments over the past few years, mostly centered in Cartagena and Barranquilla.
