Royal Caribbean International has appointed Jim Berra as its new Chief Marketing Officer.

Berra will take on responsibilities of the cruise line’s marketing program, brand strategy, consumer and trade advertising, research and communications, the company said in a statement.

“We are delighted to have Jim join our team,” said Michael Bayley, Royal Caribbean International’s President and CEO. “With so many exciting initiatives on the immediate horizon for our brand, we feel that Jim’s impressive history of creativity and proven results will continue the momentum of innovation the brand has created.”

Berra most recently served as senior vice president and chief marketing officer for Carnival Cruise Line, and has held a variety of other marketing positions with Rodale Interactive, Starwood Hotels, and Hyatt Hotels and Resorts.

He has been listed among the World’s 50 Most Influential CMO’s by Forbes Magazine in 2013 and 2014, as well as Brand Week’s list of Next Generational Marketers.
