Hilton is expanding in the Bahamas, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The new planned resort in Bimini will debut under the Hilton brand, according to the company’s Web site.

It will be called Hilton at Resorts World Bimini, and will be the second Hilton property in the Bahamas, along with the British Colonial Hilton in Nassau.

The 305-room-and-suite hotel will be located at Resorts World Bimini, the Genting project at the former Bimini Bay Resort.

The news comes almost 10 years after Hilton had first been en route to opening a property on the same site in Bimini, a property that would have been under the Conrad brand.

The marina-set property will include two pools, including a rooftop infinity pool, along with swim-up suites, 10,000 square feet of conference space and 24-hour room service, among other amenities.

The entry of Hilton to the Bahamas is the second major event affecting the company this week, following the recent sale of the Hilton Rose Hall in Jamaica last Wednesday. That property will remain a Hilton under the management of Aimbridge Hospitality.

The exact date of the opening is not yet known, although it is slated to debut in 2015.
