InterContinental Hotels Group’s Colombia push shows no signs of slowing down.

The regional hospitality giant has announced the opening of a new Holiday Inn Express property in Yopal, Colombia, around 200 miles from the country’s capital, Bogota.

The 89-room hotel is located in the downtown area of Yopal, the capital of the northeastern region of Casanare.

“Yopal has experienced a significant increase in business travelers due to the recent boom in the local oil industry, and the Holiday Inn Express brand is ideal to meet the growing demand of these travelers,” said Gerardo Murray, regional vice president at IHG for distribution and commercial marketing in the Mexico, Latin America and Caribbean region. “The hotel’s convenient location near restaurants and local attractions also makes it a perfect destination for leisure travelers.”

The property is owned and managed by Antares SA, a Bogota-based construction and real estate firm.
