How This Caribbean Hotel Can Get You in Shape After the Holidays

The weeks between Thanksgiving and New Year can be challenging for weight watchers, and by the time January 1 rolls around many of us are reaching into our closets for those elastic-waist pants.

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

My first tip: Try to approach holiday eating with some restraint. Sure, eat some of what you love, but there’s no need to gorge on everything. Second: Start thinking beyond the holidays and how you want to feel in 2015. And if your goal is to be healthy and to feel good about your body, you might also want to think about heading to Antigua.

Because that’s where the venerable all-inclusive resort Curtain Bluff will be launching its first Fit, Fun & Under The Sun Week. Designed to help guests kick-start their fitness regimen, the four- and seven-night program runs January 10-17 and will be led by Simone De La Rue, trainer to actresses Sandra Bullock and Naomi Watts.

Activities at the 72-room beachfront include daily exercise classes with the trainer herself; water aerobics; yoga and Zumba sessions; plus two 30-minute tennis lessons with the resort’s world-class pros. But it’s not all hard graft: The package also comes with a 60-minute spa treatment; a wine tasting and cooking class; a shopping trip; and a catamaran cruise to English Harbour for lunch.

Rates start from $5,500 (double occupancy), and also all meals and beverages; non-motorized water sports; a welcome cocktail party hosted by Simone De La Rue; and an autographed copy of her book, “Body By Simone: The 8-Week Total Body Makeover Plan.”

The only thing you won’t get (or need): Those elastic-waist pants.
