JetBlue has officially begun its new direct service from Boston to several destinations in the Caribbean.

On Saturday, the carrier launched new weekly service from Boston to Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic, along with a Saturday flight from Boston to St Lucia.

The carrier also began new weekly Saturday service from Boston to Liberia, Costa Rica.

“With more than 125 flights a day, Boston is truly evolving into our second home and we are excited to offer a mix of business and leisure destinations to meet customers’ needs,” said Scott Laurence, senior vice president for airline planning at JetBlue. “We also offer customers more destinations in the Caribbean than any other airline as we know how important it is to getaway and enjoy well-deserved time off.”

New York City-based JetBlue has been on a major expansion push in the Caribbean region in the last few years.
