The hotel will include 48 suites of one and two-bedroom lofts and three-bedroom apartments with private plunge pools and terraces, along with a collection of four-bedroom penthouses.

The company opened its first hotel in the region in Turks and Caicos in 2009 on the famous Grace Bay Beach in Providenciales.

“Gansevoort prides itself on bringing a whole new level of service and amenities to emerging destinations,” said Michael Achenbaum, founder and president of Gansevoort. “From Playa Imbert to Cabarete, we love the vibe and beauty of the north coast and believe there’s a unique opportunity to create something truly special for the luxury market here.”

The hotel will include Baia Lounge, which is already open to the public, along with La Cantina Wine + Cigar Cellar.

It will also feature a Hammam-style sauna, a mediation and yoga garden and a fitness centre.

The hotel will be located about 15 minutes from Puerto Plata airport.
