Caribbean Jazz has found a new home in Miami, thanks to the city’s WDNA radio station.

The public radio station, which has long been a friend to the Caribbean, will begin airing a new programme called “Caribbean Jazz Riddims” on Saturdays.

The programme, which will be hosted by Eddy Edwards, will air every Saturday from 3 PM to 5 PM beginning on May 17 on 88.9 FM.

It will follow the station’s long-running Reggae Ride programme hosted by Howard Duperly.

“We are delighted to have Eddy Edwards on board as host of Caribbean Jazz Riddims,” said WDNA General Manager, Maggie Pelleya. “He brings a wealth of broadcast experience and knowledge to WDNA and we look forward to his informative and creative presentation of the programme.”

Edwards, a three-decade veteran of the radio in South Florida, has most recently served as the presenter and producer of “Caribbean Riddims,” which airs on the WZAB 880 AM station.

“The opportunity to present Caribbean Jazz on WDNA is both an honor and a dream come true,” Edwards said. “The Caribbean has produced an abundance of talented jazz musicians and this provides an outlet to a diverse audience and a chance to engage new fans of the music. The program will be the first of its kind in South Florida and I look forward to having an enjoyable experience with the audience and the WDNA family.”

The programme can also be heard online at the station’s Web site, www.wdna.org.
