Guyana’s Cabinet has approved financial support for the Eastern Caribbean islands impacted by last week’s serious storm.

Guyana has approved $100,000 USD for both St Lucia and St Vincent and the Grenadines, along with $75,000 for Dominica, according to Dr Roger Luncheon, head of the presidential secretariat.

Luncheon said the government had also “put in place mechanisms” for a disaster relief fund for the impacted islands.

That fund would allow citizens and organizations to make contributions to support relief efforts in the affected countries.

The storm has led to at least 13 deaths in the region, with several more people reported missing.
