Delta Airlines will be adding new flights to the United States Virgin Islands from both Atlanta and New York beginning next month.

The new service to St Thomas will begin Dec. 15 and last through March 30, 2014, according to USVI Tourism Commissioner Beverly Nicholson-Doty.

Delta will return in the summer to resume the daily New York service from July 1 to Sept. 2, 2014.

During the winter season, Delta will also be serving St Thomas with two daily flights from Atlanta and a third Saturday service — for a total of 15 flights every week out of Atlanta.

The service adds about 10,000 new seats on 50 additional flights to St Thomas, according to the Commissioner.

“Delta Air Lines recognizes the strength and appeal of our destination and we are grateful for that,” Nicholson-Doty said.
