St Kitts’ development spree is continuing, with a new $70 million project planned for the foothills above Basseterre, the government announced Tuesday.

The Prime Hotel & Condominiums project is the brainchild of developer Farron Lawrence of SKN Homes and investors Abbas Fahim and Sirous Motevassel. Lawrence and Motevassel are also leading the way on the Imperial Bay project, which broke ground earlier this year.

“The land has been acquired, purchased and owned by Prime Developments, Ltd and that was done approximately three or four months ago,” Lawrence said on the day of the launch.

The $70 million project will be comprised of nine buildings, led by a hotel with between 70 and 100 rooms; each other building will have around 36 1-bedroom condo units, each of which will have a rooftop pool, Lawrence said.

The design for the project has been completed, with construction anticipated to commence on May 1, 2014, according to Lawrence.

“We have spent some time to go through this schedule and we believe it is attainable once we have the support and no major delays we can achieve this,” he said.
The company said it could produce around 100 direct jobs upon completion.
