A strike by LIAT pilots led to the cancellation of at least nine LIAT routes on Tuesday, the company said.

Later on Tuesday, the company said it had held discussions with the pilots’ LIALPA trade union after the industrial action, which left only a few flights able to operate from Antigua, Barbados and Trinidad.

“The company has indicated its willingness to address any legitimate issues and has given a firm commitment that it will meet with LIALPA on Wednesday, November 6 in an effort to discuss the union’s concerns,” it said in a statement.

The Caribbean airline said it remained “hopeful that good sense would prevail and that there will be a resumption of its services early [Wednesday].”

“LIAT sincerely apologizes to affected passengers and the general public for the inconvenience caused as a result of the disruption,” it said.

It’s the latest in a long line of disruptions for the increasingly beleaguered passengers of the regional carrier.

LIAT said customers who wished to re-book their flights could do so without charge for a period of one week.
