A late goal by Kenwyne Jones gave Trinidad and Tobago a 2-2 tie with El Salvador in its Gold Cup opener on Monday.

Rodolfo Zelaya scored both goals for El Salvador, starting this off in the 22nd minute after a goal by the Soca Warriors’ Keon Daniel in the 11th minute of play.

Zelaya followed up to give El Salvador the lead with a goal in the 69th minute, but the lead didn’t last for long, as Jones put one home past goaltender Dagoberto Portillo.

Each team took 12 shots in the game, with El Salvador showing a slight 51-49 edge in time of possession.

Jones received the game’s only red card.
