Aimbridge Hospitality has been tapped as the new manager of the Sugar Bay Resort in St Thomas, the company announced Tuesday.

The 294-room all-inclusive property will also be undergoing a “multi-million capital investment,” the company said, which is slated to begin later this year.

“Our plans for this Caribbean treasure are to enhance this beachfront retreat into an upscale all-inclusive resort with the signature programming, food and beverage and service levels that are the platform for the hotels and resorts in the Aimbridge portfolio, including our prestigious Jewel Resorts,” said Dave Johnson, president and CEO of Aimbridge.

The renovation will include what the company called a “dramatic redesign” by designer Paul Vega, with a new lobby, upgraded rooms and suites and a Jade Samurai restaurant.

“We have a strong public-private sector partnership in the Territory, and we continue to welcome healthy alliances as we position tourism as a major engine of economic growth,” said US Virgin Islands Tourism Commissioner Beverly Nicholson-Doty.
Aimbridge’s selection is effective immediately.

It’s the second new management announcement since last month for Aimbridge, which was revealed as the new manager of the former Hotel Royal Decameron Fun in Jamaica in May.
