The French department of Guadeloupe has launched a new ad campaign in an effort to draw travelers from the United States.

The campaign, called “Let me show you my islands,” stars model and Guadelopue native Willy Monfret as the archipelago’s US “ambassador.”

American Airlines recently launched new weekly nonstop service from Miami to Guadeloupe, and Seaborne Airlines this month began service to the island out of San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Long a destination for visitors from the French mainland, Guadeloupe has been making an effort to tap into the US as a source market, rebranding itself as the “Guadeloupe Islands.”

The ad campaign will feature one video clip per week for five weeks.
