Haiti: MINUSTAH Chief Nigel Fisher Begins South American Tour

Nigel Fisher, the head of the United Nations’ MINUSTAH peacekeeping mission in Haiti, begins a South American tour this weekend.

It is the first trip abroad for Fisher since he succeeded former MINUSTAH Chief Mariano Fernandez at the beginning of February.

He had been serving as the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary General in Haiti since 2010.

He will visit Brazil, Chile, Argentina and Uruguay on the trip, including a speech on the UN mission to the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean in Santiago.

Fisher will also be meeting with Defence and Foreign Ministry officials in the Latin American countries.
