Arturo Ulysses Vallarino Bartuano is the new Permanent Representative of the Republic of Panama to the Organization.

Vallarino presented his credentials to the Chief of Staff of the Secretary General, Ambassador Hugo de Zela on Tuesday in Washington.

“We come here to reaffirm the commitment, interest and determination of the Republic of Panama to contribute to the strengthening of the OAS, considering it an irreplaceable hemispheric forum for the promotion and defense of democratic values that should prevail in the Americas, to guarantee the political form of government most valid for the development of the hemisphere,” he said.

The Ambassador said Panama President Ricardo Martinelli’s government reiterated the importance of strengthening the OAS’ work in the region.

“We are willing to learn from you all and seek consensus to further the interests of our nations,” he said.

Panama will be hosting the Seventh Summit of the Americas in 2015.

He succeeds Ambassador Guillermo Alberto Cochez Farrugia.
