Earthquake Causes Light Shaking in Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic was shaken a 4.3-magnitude earthquake early Saturday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The quake’s epicentre was about 13 kilometres south of Rio San Juan, and about 113 kilometres north of Santo Domingo. It occurred at about 3:17 AM local time.

There were reports of weak to light shaking across the eastern side of Hispaniola, with the most reports coming from the Santo Domingo area.

The quake came four days after a 5.0-magnitude quake between off the country’s eastern coast.

There were not yet any reports of damage or injuries.
