German car maker Volkswagen has infused its latest ad with Jamaican flavour.

The new video spot, which will be used for the Super Bowl on Sunday, is called “Get Happy,” and features an American office worker speaking with a Jamaican accent, urging co-workers to be a bit more positive.

It’s helped out by reggae star Jimmy Cliff (Caribbean Journal’s 2012 Artist of the Year), who sings a cover of the Partridge Family song “Come On, Get Happy.”

Reaction to the video within Jamaica seems to be mixed thus far, raising some controversy.

The ad will air in the second quarter of Sunday night’s Super Bowl between the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens.
