Australia Names New High Commissioner to Trinidad, CARICOM

Australian Foreign Minister Bob Carr has announced the appointment of Ross Tysoe as the country’s next High Commissioner to Trinidad and Tobago.

Carr will have non-resident accreditation to Antigua and Barbuda, the Bahamas, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines and Suriname.

He will also be accredited as the Australian Ambassador to CARICOM.

Tysoe, who will be replacing Philip Kentwell, is expected to take up his appointment in January 2013.

Trinidad is Australia’s largest trading partner in the Caribbean.

Australia’s BHP Billiton is also a major oil producer in Trinidad.
