Haiti has been unanimously nominated as an Observer Member of the Ibero-American General Secretariat.

All 22 countries participating in the 22nd Ibero-American Summit in Cadiz this week voted in favour of the move.

“We are delighted to find this international visibility within international organizations such as [OEI],” Martelly said. “Now, more than ever, Haiti is recovering its voice in the world. In our country, international repositioning means we are regaining international confidence.”

Earlier at the summit, Haiti President Michel Martelly and Honduran President Porfirio Lobo discussed Haiti’s potential accession to the Central American Integration System.
