Grenada’s government will be beginning negotiations with Balfour Beatty Capital on the development of the Grenada Replacement Hospital public-private partnership.

Balfour Beatty Capital emerged as the only qualified bidder from the request for qualification progress on the new hospital project. The ultimate aim of the talks will be to conclude an agreement for the delivery of the Replacement Hospital.

Balfour was one of four submissions following the initial request for qualifications on July 6.

The project is Grenada’s first PPP for health infrastructure, and involves the design, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of the new public health care facility.

The hospital will look to improve local health care and attract medical tourism, according to the government.

The International Finance Corporation is advising Grenada on the partnership. The IFC is being supported by the UK’s Mott MacDonald and Canada’s Heenan Blaikie as legal advisors.

The project would include 180 patient beds and 14 single/private rooms.
