The Dominican Republic was moved by its third earthquake in a week with a 4.1-magnitude quake near Hato Mayor Thursday night, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The quake’s epicentre was 31 kilometres northwest of Hato Mayor, and 33km east-northeast of Monte Plata. That is approximately 68 kilometres northeast of Santo Domingo.

It occurred at approximately 7:45PM.

There were reports of weak to light shaking north of that region and in the city of Las Terrenas in Samana.

The country experienced a 4.4-magnitude earthquake Aug. 5, one day after a 4.3-magnitude earthquake near Bonano.

In July, the country was shaken by a 5.1-magnitude earthquake near the border between the Dominican Republic and Haiti.
