Panama President Ricardo Martinelli will visit Trinidad next week for the Caribbean Investment Forum.

Martinelli hosted a visit by Trinidad Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar in mid-April.

That meeting came after March talks that resulted in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries regarding their energy sectors.

That agreement aimed to facilitate “mutually beneficial” trade and export between Trade and Panama, focusing on energy products including butane, bitumen, natural gas and other goods exported with preferential tariff arrangements to Panama.

Six months before that, Panama’s Chief Trade Negotiator, initiated a partial scope agreement with Trinidad Foreign Minister Dr Surujrattan Rambachan.

Martinelli will be in the country for two days.
