The governments of Trinidad and Tobago and Panama have signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the energy sector, following a ceremony in Panama City.

The agreement will help to facilitate “mutually beneficial” trade and export, according to the government of Trinidad, which sent a delegation to Panama City including Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, Trade Minister Stephen Cadiz and Foreign Minister Dr Surujrattan Rambachan.

The MOU will see products including butane, bitumen, natural gas, and other goods exported with preferential tariff arrangements to Panama.

Diana Salazar, Panama’s Chief Trade Negotiator, also initiated a partial scope agreement six months in the making with Rambachan.

Also joining Trinidad’s delegation was Ambassador for Trade Mervyn Assam.
