LIAT, COPA Airlines Partner to Help Cultural Programme in Cuba

Air carriers LIAT and COPA Airlines are partnering with government of Barbados, the Cuban Embassy and Caribbean Publishers, Inc to move books to Cuba for a major cultural show.

LIAT’s cargo aircraft will transport the books from Barbados to Santo Domingo, from which COPA will transport them to Havana.

“We are grateful to be able to help our partners in shipping these items to Cuba for what’s shaping up to be a major event in that country and providing them with a very favorable rate from our end,” said Wilbur Edwards, LIAT’s director of cargo and quikpak.

“In February 2011, the same month that we officially launched our dedicated freighter service, we also announced same-day transfer of cargo to Cuba from Santo Domingo and we have kept that promise,” he said.
