Caribbean Airlines Flight Detention Was Routine, Barbados PM Stuart Says

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - June 22, 2011 - 6:24 pm

The controversial detention of a Caribbean Airlines flight was simply a “routine check,” Barbados PM Freundel Stuart said on Tuesday. Jamaican Prime Minister Bruce Golding had complained about the plane’s holdup at Grantley Adams International Airport last week. “These are procedures that have to be followed and ultimately Barbados has to make sure it complies with the obligations to which it signed under international conventions,” Stuart said. “If they have to detain an aircraft because they are not satisfied that the safety requirements are being complied with they will have the fullest support of the government of Barbados.” [Jamaica Observer]
