The 10 Best Hotels in St. Martin

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - January 27, 2017

World-class food, marvelous beaches and an intoxicating fusion of French and Caribbean culture; they all help make the French side of St. Martin one of the top destinations in the Caribbean. And one of the things that makes the French side of St. Martin so delightful is its diverse, intimate hotel sector, with a collection of mostly smaller properties full of personality. If you are looking for a getaway to St. Martin, these are the places for you. Here are the best hotels in St. Martin.

The view of Long Bay.

Belmond La Samanna

St. Martin’s flagship luxury hotel is this, a grand, 83-room resort set above the spectacular Long Bay beach. The food is excellent, the spa is wonderful and the vibe is Saint-Tropez meets the West Indies.

The view of the beach.

Grand Case Beach Club

One of the best beach resorts in the Caribbean (and very popular with CJ readers), this 71-room standout has two lovely beaches, a great beachfront restaurant called Sunset Cafe and warm, ultra-friendly service.

The view from Karibuni.

Karibuni Lodge

Perhaps the best couples’ retreat on St. Martin, this hillside lodge has hip, funky rooms and a terrific daily breakfast served right to your room. But the standout feature is the free shuttle service to neighboring Pinel Island and reserved beach lounge seats at one of the region’s coolest beach bars. The pool bar is a must.

L’Esplanade

This hillside hotel has large, comfortable rooms (and great views of the town of Grand Case). It’s also a great jumping off point to explore the culinary wonders of the town, just a short walk down the hill from the property. The pool bar is a standout, too.

A boutique room.

Le Temps des Cerises

The newest hotel in St. Martin is this lovely little boutique property right on the sand in Grand Case and within steps of some of the Caribbean’s greatest restaurants.

A boutique on the beach.

Le Petit Hotel

The tiny sister hotel to L’Esplanade has 10 rooms right on the beach, each of which has a balcony and a sea view. Every room also comes with its own fully-equipped kitchen.

The beach lounge at Shambala.

Le Shambala

Find Zen at this beachfront boutique on the sand in Grand Case. This ultra-tranquil retreat has five suites, with either gardens or private pools and great amenities like Nespresso machines 42-inch TVs and free Wi-Fi. The restaurant and bar are world-class, too.

Poolside at Privilege.

Hotel La Plantation

Orient Beach is St. Martin’s party capital, with endless beach bars and lounges on a sparkling stretch of white-sand beach. La Plantation is the best way to access it, with large studios and suites (including kitchens or kitchenettes) and an on-site restaurant called Cafe Plantation. It’s also within steps of the eatery-filled Orient Bay Village.

The pool at La Plantation.

Privilege Resort

This boutique property is set on lovely Anse Marcel (home to one of the island’s best restaurants, Anse Marcel Beach Restaurant); there are four large suite types, a pool and water views in every room.

The beach at Love.

Love Hotel SXM

This seven-room, hip boutique hotel is smack in the heart of Grand Case, with a funky, eclectic vibe and a fun-filled on-site bar.

They all add up to the greatest St Martin hotels.
