Remote Work Driving Airbnb Growth in the Caribbean

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - May 8, 2022

Airbnb continues to see booming growth in the Caribbean, driven by remote work, according to new numbers from the company.

The share of nights booked for long term stays in the first quarter of 2022 almost doubled compared to the same period in 2019, according to data from Airbnb.

In the first quarter of 2019, almost six percent of all bookings were for long term stays.

In the first quarter of 2022, that number reached almost 10 percent.

The number of nights booked for long-term stays also tripled in the same period.

“The steady recovery of Caribbean tourism has been driven by innovation and a willingness to seize opportunities, like the rise of digital nomads and development of long stay programmes to diversify the visitor experience in the region,” said Faye Gill, CTO Director for Membership Services.

The CTO recently partnered with Airbnb to help drive remote work in the region.
