Jamaica Just Updated Its Travel Protocols

By: Alexander Britell - March 2, 2021

Jamaica has updated its travel protocols, narrowing the testing window for incoming travelers, Caribbean Journal has learned.

Travelers to Jamaica now need to present a negative PCR or antigen test result within three days before arriving in Jamaica.

That’s a tightening of what had been a 10-day testing window for visitors; while it’s narrower than previously, it’s in line with many destinations in the Caribbean, most of which have windows from somewhere between three and five days.

The new rules go into effect on March 10 for all travelers to Jamaica from any country, 12 years of age and over.

All visitors to Jamaica need to apply for a Travel Authorization (you can find it here).

Jamaica first opened its tourism industry in June, when it was one of the first Caribbean destinations to do so.

The country has focused its reopening on a “resilient corridor” on the north coast of Jamaica, effectively creating a tourism “bubble” in popular destinations like Ocho Rios, Montego Bay, Negril and Port Antonio.

The vast majority of the island’s hotels are open and operating, from iconic properties like Round Hill to the country’s dazzling new Eclipse at Half Moon, the new resort-within-a-resort at the signature Montego Bay property.
