Norwegian Cruise Line Takes Delivery of New “Encore” Ship

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - October 30, 2019

Norwegian Cruise Line has taken delivery of its new Norwegian Encore cruise ship in Germany.

The 1,100-foot-long, 170,000-gross-ton ship has a capacity of nearly 4,000 guests.

The ship will launch this fall in Miami, with seven-day Caribbean cruises, before launching cruises from New York in April. The latter will include a stop in Bermuda.

The following winter, Norwegian Encore will be sailing Western Caribbean itineraries out of Miami beginning Dec. 12, 2020.

It is the company’s 17th ship, and the final ship in NCL’s “Breakaway Plus” class of cruise ships.

“Our dedication to creating next-level offerings on board, will allow us to continue to deliver meaningful experiences for our guests, when Norwegian Encore arrives home to Miami,” said Andy Stuart, president and chief executive officer of Norwegian Cruise Line.

The ship’s broad slate of amenities include the world’s longest race track at sea at 1,100 feet, and interactive theater experiences in the ship’s Galaxy Pavilion.

Other features will include a production of the Tony-award winning musical Kinky Boots and the Italian eatery Onda by Scarpetta.

“We’re happy to deliver another world-class ship to Norwegian Cruise Line,” said Tim Meyer, managing director of shipbuilder Meyer Werft. “We are extremely proud of our partnership of over 16 years and honored to have been part of Norwegian Cruise Line’s most successful class of ships.  We are confident that Norwegian Encore will continue the Company’s legacy of exceeding the expectations of its guests.”
