It’s been a busy few weeks for one of the biggest hotel companies in the Caribbean — and now Melia is at it again.

Melia has unveiled the fruits of its $30 million project to turn the Melia Caribe Tropical resort into two distinct all-inclusive beach hotels in the Dominican Republic.

The company has officially opened the new adults-only Melia Punta Cana Beach Resort and the family-friendly Melia Caribe Beach Resort, both set on Punta Cana’s famous Bavaro Beach, home to the most popular tourist destination in the Dominican Republic.

The adults-only Melia Punta Cana will also include The LEVEL, Melia’s “elevated service” concept, meaning an exclusive pool, restaurant, VIP check-in lounge and premium beverages, among other amenities.

The 538-room hotel, which will include 136 LEVEL suites, will include five new dining concepts, including the signature Mediterranean-inspired Mosaico.

The family-friendly Melia Caribe Beach Resort includes 609 rooms, including 154 LEVEL suites, along with 132 “beachside family rooms” and 332 premium beachside and deluxe rooms.

Dining concepts range from the all-day eatery Riviera to the Japanese-style Hokkaido.

The Melia Caribe will debut two more restaurants, Tartufo and Bazaar, later this year, according to a statement from the company.

The twin-resort debut comes as Melia just opened its new Grand Reserve at the Paradisus Palma Real and launched a new luxury hotel in Cuba.

The growth continues to solidify Melia’s position in the Dominican Republic — the company’s second-biggest market in the Caribbean, after Cuba.
