As it prepares to launch a wave of new Caribbean routes for the upcoming winter season, American Airlines is already planning for the spring.

The carrier has announced another series of new routes set to begin in for the 2019 summer season, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The new routes will be headlined by the May 3 launch of a new daily service between Miami and Santiago de Cuba.

American Airlines is also launching a new weekly Saturday service between New York-Laguardia and Aruba along with Saturday service between from both Charlotte and Dallas-Fort Worth to Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic.

American is also adding two new routes to Honduras: four-times-weekly flights from Dallas to San Pedro Sula, along with thrice-weekly service from Dallas to Honduras’ capital, Tegucigalpa.

The Aruba and Santo Domingo flights will begin operating June 8, while the San Pedro Sula and Tegucigalpa flights will launch June 7 and 6, respectively. (Those flights will operate through Aug. 17 and Aug. 20 on a seasonal basis).

“We have had a robust schedule of flights between the U.S. and the Mexico, Caribbean and Latin America region for years from our DFW and MIA hubs,” said Vasu Raja, Vice President of Network and Schedule Planning for American. “As we work to deliver the best network, these new routes reinforce our commitment to the region and provide new options for customers.”

American’s major expansion push will begin in late December, a significant expansion of its Caribbean network first announced earlier this year that will include eight new Caribbean routes.

All of the new routes launch online on Monday, according to American Airlines.
