Antigua’s Carlisle Bay has named a new managing director, Caribbean Journal has learned.

The property has appointed Thomas Orchard to the role, in which he will be responsible for managing the 87-suite resort, which is part of the Harcourt Group.

“[Orchard] will oversee the strategic direction of Carlisle Bay as it continues to evolve as a leading luxury Caribbean resort. Thomas brings with him a wealth of experience in luxury and privately-owned properties, which will be hugely beneficial to Carlisle Bay,” said John Paul Doherty, creative and marketing director for Harcourt. “We are delighted to have him onboard.”

Orchard comes to Carlisle Bay after having spent 17 years as regional general manager for COMO Hotels and Resorts.

Carlisle Bay is a property I have known and loved for many years and I am thrilled to be joining the team and bring my experience in running five-star hotels to this luxury resort,” Orchard said in a statement. “I am delighted to be back in the Caribbean and am very much looking forward to working with the outstanding team at Carlisle Bay and managing this incredible resort on the island of Antigua.”
