British Virgin Islands Set for Spring Regatta

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - March 11, 2018

It’s one of the landmark events of the year in the British Virgin Islands — and it’s on the schedule again this year.

In the latest symbol of the BVI’s rapid recovery, the islands will be hosting the 47th edition of the Spring Regatta and Sailing Festival from March 26 to April 1.

The regatta, one of the Caribbean’s premier racing events, brings together more yachts from around the world to race on three course areas in 18 classes.

This year, more than 60 boats are anticipated to arrive in what will be the largest event in the British Virgin Islands.

The regatta starts at the Nanny Cay marina with two days of warm-up races, beginning with the Round Tortola Race.

Then the sailors continue to navigate the islands into the night, with the inaugural “Full Moon Race, 64 Islands, One Brillliant Night” will span 165 miles.
